Month of European Film November 13 - December 10, 2022

This year, the European Cinema Month will take place from November 13 to December 10. Thanks to the "Europa Cinemas" cooperation network, cinemas in 35 countries from Reykjavík to Athens, from Lisbon to Riga, will highlight European films by offering special film programs and events.

 

Honoring the memory of the director Jean-Luc Godard, the "Splendid Palace" opens the European cinema month with the French cinema classic masterpiece "Pierrot le Fou". The screening of the film is shown with the support of the French Embassy in Latvia, the French Institute in Latvia and IF Cinema.

 

Also, during the month of European cinema, the cinema "Splendid Palace" will offer to watch the latest award-winning films from European directors - the film "The Holy Spider" by director Ali Abbasi, the film "Peter von Kant" by director François Ozon, the comedy "Sick of Myself" by director Kristoffer Borgli, this years Cannes film festival winner - film "Triangle of Sadness" by director Ruben Östlund. Celebrating the centenary of the great Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini, the films "The Decameron" (1971) and "Mama Roma" (1962) will be shown on the big screen, while from December 6 to 8 the cinema "Splendid Palace" in cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Latvia and  "NICE New Italian Cinema" will present the "New Italian Film Festival".

The European Film Month will end on December 10 with the European Film Award ceremony in Iceland, which can be watched live at the cinema "Splendid Palace" by showing a cinema ticket for a screening of one of the European films attended during the month.

The MONTH OF EUROPEAN FILM is an initiative of the European Film Academy supported by the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme of the European Union and working together with partners such as Europa Cinemas, CICAE and MUBI.
