Splendid Palace Cinema presents the Audience Choice Award to “Emīlija. Latvijas preses karaliene”

On Sunday, 27 February 2022, the winners of the 2021 edition of the National Film Award “Lielais Kristaps” were announced. At the award ceremony,, Ieva Sīpola, Head of the Splendid Palace Cinema, presented the special Audience Choice Award to the creators of the multi-series feature film “Emīlija. Latvijas preses karaliene”.

 

For the first time in the history of Latvian cinema, the Audience Choice Award has gone to a multi-series film that was screened in several cinemas in the autumn season of 2021 and has become one of the most viewed films of the year.

 

“The jury ofthis Splendid Palace special award are the cinema-goers, who had a new cinema-going experience - going to the cinema several times to watch a multi-series film consisting of six feature films and a documentary. We are delighted to be able to open our cinema halls to the festival audience, celebrate premieres and plan screenings of the latest Latvian films!”. At the “Lielais Kristaps” awards ceremony, Ieva Sīpola, the head of the Splendid Palace cinema, congratulated the entire creative team of the film “Emīlija. Latvijas preses karaliene”.

 

The National Film Award “Lielais Kristaps” and the main events took place from 23 to 27 February, with the film programme screened in person at the festival's home theatre Splendid Palace.
